Your Comments on the Aid Budget Cuts

We Do Care In the budget announcement of December 9th 2009, the Government selected to cut our overseas aid budget by a further €25 million. This cut comes on top of the €224 million that has already been cut this year.

‘We’re extremely disappointed that the government have piled further cuts on the massive 24% cut applied earlier this year, once against hitting the poorest and most vulnerable’ said Jim Clarken, Chief Executive of Oxfam Ireland.

Oxfam Ireland will continue to campaign throughout 2010, ensuring that our Government receives a strong and clear message from all of us that we expect them to finally deliver on their 0.7% commitment and put the necessary steps in place to ensure that there are no more broken promises.
